It was that time again. Lunch time. Was craving something green so I gave Carmel one of my many endearing looks to which she simply told me, "Just go in the fridge and see what we have!" And upon my scavenger hunt, I found asparagus. Woohoo! There are so many ways to make your pee smell weird but asparagus is always a really yummy way. Not sure if that is actually true. With that being said, I suggested to Carmel we use my grill pan that she keeps wanting me to take home from the kitchen as she feels like it takes up too much space. She succumbed and I don't want to pat myself on the back but they came out fantastic. They had that grill taste without the grill. Great flavor, souper easy (see what I did there) and I get to keep my grill pan in the kitchen. This was an overall win for everyone. Super easy, so here we go.

Ingredients
-
1 bunch of Asparagus
-
1 tablespoon of olive oil
-
Zest of one lemon
-
2 tsp of minced garlic
-
Salt & Pepper to taste
Directions
Over medium high heat, heat your pan. Carmel assured me this is a sure way to get the proper flavor to your vegetable. I didn't believe her but she was right. She won in this scenario.
Cut the ends off the stalks of your asparagus. Just trust me. Carmel. whatever. We were in this together.
Pour your oil, garlic, salt and pepper over your asparagus and just rub it all over. Make sure each stalk gets an even amount.
Plop on grill pan. Carmel only did a few at a time and left it there for like 2 minutes each if that. She didn't want it to get soft. "A good asparagus still has a bit of bite to it", says Carmel. Again, she was right.
Literally that's it! Oh, my bad. Sprinkle the lemon zest over your plated asparagus. That is if you plate your asparagus. You might just eat it while it's being plated and then you might have someone in your life, like Carmel, stare at you with anger that is fit for a street fight. Don't worry, everything worked out okay. Happy Kitchen! Happy Asparagus!
